Do you often feel your opinion being devalued in male-dominated arenas? Do you have difficulty waging conflict through debates to assert yourself without having your passion be characterized as aggression? Has your professional life become overcharged with stress and anxiety?

About 42% of working women in the United States say they have faced discrimination on the job because of their gender.

To move past this, student researcher and activist, Megan Gole shares the 3 realities that undermine women’s voices in professional spheres as shown by her research and, more importantly, how to empower young girls to overcome condescension, double-standards, and stereotypes. You will be guided through an interactive discussion that highlights the experiences of the riding generation and how you can encourage these girls to continue to break free.

About Megan Gole

She may be too young to vote, but high school senior, Megan Gole, has certainly taken matters into her own hands in making sure there is a place for women at every table. She is an acclaimed student researcher who has spent the past year studying sexism in male-dominated forums, extending from academia to the workplace and how stereotypical attributes are mechanized to belittle women, ranking 2nd place in Social Sciences at the Junior Science and Humanities Symposium with this investigation. Beginning her research career in scoliosis studies, working with epilepsy, and currently studying rib fractures and pulmonary complications, her expertise is broad. She uses her activism through science research to empower women as treasurer of Girls Learn International, Captain of Lincoln Douglas Debate and proves her position as a force to be reckoned with in all fields as President of National Honor Society, President of National Italian Honor Society, and Secretary of Mathletes. As a passionate advocate for women’s equality and a host of other political issues, she hopes to follow the path of other keystone women who have made it possible to champion in business, STEM, or even politics.
