Prepare to Take Flight

“You can do anything you decide to do.” —Amelia Earhart

A flight instructor once said the big difference between male and female students is that male students almost always need to get their skill level up to their confidence level, while female students inevitably need to get their confidence level up to their skill level.

This issue of NAWBO ONE is all about giving you the confidence you need to take flight in your business. That might mean expanding your business overseas. If so, you’ll want to check out our Books We Love review designed to help you overcome any cultural differences you might face as you look beyond the U.S. We also have insider international travel tips, from apps to luggage, to make your business travel easier than ever.

Taking flight might also mean growing your business to the next level. We’ve got you covered here, too. This spring, nine incredible NAWBO members were honored with the Enterprising Women of the Year award, and we recently spoke to them about what motivates them to reach higher, what’s their next big business goal and what’s their best advice to other women entrepreneurs seeking to take their businesses to new heights.

Speaking of new heights, the NAWBO Institute for Entrepreneurial Development just revealed some exciting news for women entrepreneurs looking to improve their game. Five-time Grand Slam tennis champion Maria Sharapova, who launched her successful candy company, Sugarpova, in 2012, and her team are partnering with the NAWBO Institute to mentor female entrepreneurs through the Sharapova Women’s Entrepreneur Program. The 12-month-long mentorship program will kick off this spring with a nationwide call for applicants, from which up to six business women will be selected. You can read all about it and learn how to apply in this issue or by clicking here.

Lastly, don’t miss our annual event this September that will make you feel more connected, inspired and confident than ever: National Women’s Business Conference 2018, September 23-25 in Spokane, Washington, hosted by NAWBO. Our National staff and board have been busy hand-selecting speakers and topics to speak to our NAWBO members and extended community of women entrepreneurs from around the globe where they are in their businesses right now. Ask any woman business owner who has attended before…this event will help you and your business soar. Be sure to register and save while Early Bird Registration lasts.

Have an amazing spring filled with new opportunities for you and your business!

—Kathy Warnick, 2017-2018 Board Chair
