My business is a security guard company that is fully licensed, bonded and insured to serve clients throughout NYS. This company was established in March 2017 by Carol L. Fields, sole owner. To date I have 32 employees and I am aggressively attempting to secure additional contracts to expand my business. My company is MWBE Certified, PANYNJ – MWBE Certified, and a BBB accredited firm. My staff is phenomenal in that it represent my company well. Each security officer was hand picked by myself and I state with great pride that they all are individuals of high integrity who are well trained, reliable, professional employees.
Why did you choose this particular business/industry?
I love public safety because I am passionate about helping people. I also desired to have my own business so after 20 years of dedicated service with the NYPD I decided to venture out and retire to start my own security company.
Who is your ideal client?
The Coney Island Hospital Reconstruction Project is my ideal client. As a former NYPD patrol officer I witnessed the torture this hospital endured during Hurricane Sandy. This building sustained a tremendous amount of water damage. It is a delight to know that the residence of the Coney Island neighborhood will have a state of the art, new community hospital. It was especially nice to have been a part of the ground breaking ceremony and now to be on site during the reconstruction process is prideful. To witness this new beautiful building in its production is a lifetime memory. It is especially nice to have had the pleasure of being one of the many businesses to engrave our company name on a beam within the foundation as verification that we played a part in it’s production.

What do you love about your life?
I love that I was given a second chance at life & currently I have the ability to live a stress-free happy lifestyle. I live my life by truth as I recognize I am Blessed to have the luxury of living another day and seeing my business succeed. I have been in business for 3 years and managed to secure contracts exceeding $1,250,000.00. I am a retired NYPD Officer/911 First Responder and last year this time my heart was operating at 13%. After a successful heart surgery in 11/2019 I’m managing my business, jogging, laughing, and enjoying watching my security company grow. As my company grows, my team of employees grow and that success is what I love most about my life. I also love the fact that my employees love their job and continuously tell me either “this is the best job they ever had” or “Thank you for hiring me. I really needed this job”. I love the fact that in my lifetime I am able to create my own business and help others through employment.
Why did you join NAWBO?
As a new company I joined Score and acquired a business mentor who suggested I join a business organization(s). After speaking with other women of small businesses and reviewing several business organizations, I felt NAWBO would be the best fit for me. I felt an overwhelming sense of unity and camaraderie amongst the participants. The organizations outreach, business resources and social events appear to be a good fit for me so without reservation I joined NAWBO and look forward to being an active member.
